I like to imagine that these tanks are filled with a fluid so volatile and explosive (rocket fuel x a few thousand) that they cannot be contained within a freighter. They must be secured and separated in a rigging such as this, so in the event of a catastrophe, they can simply jettison the damaged/leaking tank. Far better to lose one tank and a bit of rail and piping than a whole load and/or ship.

The tiny figures in red are the inspectors. It's a crappy, thankless, and dangerous job. Anyone wanting to make their way up in the Intergalactic Association of Freighters and Dockworkers Guild has to start at this lowest rung. No one stays on this rung any longer than they have to. 18 months is the minimum term of service before being eligible for advancement.

The figure farthest to the right is the newest trainee. The person next to him is his very tired and frustrated trainer. Is this just another shift, or are things about to get really...interesting?
